Emagination Hosts ROBLOX Computer Camp
Emagination Computer Camps, a summer camp for kids and teenagers, will be including a ROBLOX workshop this year to their existing curriculum. The camp has been hosting technology programs for 30 years at multiple locations around the US. This year, they will introduce a ROBLOX workshop called Build Your Imagination, which is designed to help users imagine, design and create new games. Most workshops last a week to two weeks.

5.4 Million Games Created in 2011
ROBLOX users created 5.4 million games in 2011. In addition to this, over 250 million hours of game-play were logged, and ROBLOX served over 9.6 billion page views. A couple of weeks ago, VentureBeat released an article aboutLittleBigPlanet’s 6 million user generated levels on the PS3, as well as their most interesting user generated games. We were motivated to share some of the top games of 2011 on ROBLOX.Our users continue to amaze us with the variety and quality of content they create. Here are some interesting games of 2011:

Where are people playing?
Some surprising conclusions jump out when comparing time spent playing online, mobile, and facebook games. People spend one hour playing ROBLOX for every 20 hours kids around the world play with physical LEGO bricks. Twice as much time is spent on Xbox Live as is spent playing Zynga games. Some of the data was hard to find, and some figures are estimates. Destinations are compared by Total Players, Total Time, and Time per Player. See the end of this post for the data sources, along with which values had to be estimated.

Disney XD Lab Rats Games on ROBLOX
ROBLOX has partnered with Disney XD to promote their new show, Lab Rats. ROBLOX developer Luke Weber and level designer Tara Byars have teamed up to create challenging timed missions in three classic ROBLOX levels. In order to complete the missions successfully, you will need to use the Lab Rats bionic super powers. If you are successful in completing all three missions, you will earn the Lab Rats Cap. Tech Note: Scripted tools and weapons
Our head gear programmer Deepak Chandrasekaran explains the steps that went into creating The Dagger of Shattered Dimensions.The ROBLOX creative team meets regularly to plan new items for publication in the Catalog. Recently they were inspired to create an Arabian Nights collection which included a Flying Magic Carpet,Arabian Knight Scimitar, Magic Lamp, Desert King hat, and the technically advanced Dagger of Shattered Dimensions. Once ideas have been selected, our team of 3D artists creates the item and hat models using Maya, Blender and 3DS Max. The models are then delivered to the gear programmers.
